cREATING bLACK sPECULATIVE fICTION

My love of sci-fi, fantasy, etc., was unparalleled as a kid even though I rarely, if ever, saw Black people. Black people are absolutely magical. We had to be to survive the atrocities faced around the world, especially chattel slavery. My work and my brand focus on the beauty of humanity and the way in which we engage with the world around us.

wHY i LOVE WRITING

To me, writing is a mode of communicating with the divine. Even when I don’t feel like writing, once my fingers hit the keys, I’m at peace. I’m engaged, soothed, seen.

I love when I go back to read a piece and it hits like I didn’t write it. Not because of craft but because of the art. The human truths I want to exude from my work.

hELPING OTHERS SPEAK THEIR TRUTH

I want people to feel seen when reading my work. Even if you’re not: Black, queer, female, or masculine presenting. There are human truths I want to tap into.
